Description
Algonquin birchbark canoes (00:00:01 – 00:03:43)
Representatives from Walt Disney used birchbark canoes from Maniwaki for the film Nikki, Wild Dog of the North in the 1960s. These canoes are on display in museums in at least ten countries. The Algonquins are now the last to carry on this craft tradition. Although a few young people have been trained, such as Edgar Jubei, interest remains limited compared to previous generations. Two books on the subject are available at the Big Beaver Craft store and the KZ market.

Traditional poem and song (00:03:48 – 00:04:32)
A poem is recited, evoking the encounter between Indigenous peoples and European settlers, with a nostalgic and critical tone about the consequences of this encounter.

Health awareness messages by children (00:04:35 – 00:07:26)
Children share messages about health, encouraging people not to smoke, not to use drugs, and to avoid drinking and driving. They associate health with positive lifestyle choices and safety.
